Let You Go

The Class-Set

If all these are on Spotify, that’s probably an indication it’s getting too meat & potatoes
Howie would not approve
So today, in honor of May Day, a rare bit of Chicago soul from the Class-Set
This is from 1975
Released on Chuck Sibit’s Mod-Art label from the south side
“Julie” has some notoriety because JCole sampled it for some cut off his
But I like Let You Go, a sweet mid tempo soul number that introduces some unusual changes and guitar playing in its second half
Drums open up nice and hard
This was arranged by David Baldwin ( not James’ brother, pace discogs)
This Baldwin went on to form Mitchbal records (the Mitch part is from Nemiah Mitchell)
They originally put out soul and funk
But in the 80s became the first label to release the new house music
Being developed at the Warehouse and other clubs
I cant find much about Class-Set

This one’s nice, too
Mod Art also put out The Chosen Few and some other top tier Chi soul
Come to the south side
You have nothing to lose but your gold chains! ?
Also, now that it’s almost midnight and the class struggle gives way to the pleasures of the evening, I can add the most famous Mod-Art 45 of all time

This record commands big sums, but all can enjoy via internet
