The song that got the most plays by me in 2019
And continuing to escape the period of 1968-1972 by posting this from…1973!
Outside of Dom Salvador, this was the record I hunted the most in Brazil.  With no success.
It’s by “Ze Roberto” who is actually Joaquim Roberto Braga
He also out out an album under the name “Paulo Braga” which contains this gem:

Both are top tier “samba rock”
The king of this style (the pioneer, basically) is Jorge Ben
Lotus 72D pays homage to the classic Formula One car
And tells the story of Emerson Fittipaldi’s victory in the Sao Paulo F1 race
Lyrics describe the different parts of the course
“At the Curve of the Orange, he stopped to drink a smoothie”
Lotus was champion with a car much faster than others
But it didn’t last long
The new model didn’t keep up, and Maclaren took over
Fittipaldi himself switched teams when he saw he couldn’t win in the Lotus
Later in his career, he tried his hand at the American Indy car circuit
He won the Indy 500 twice when we were kids
