Another long, hard night of poker
Another short, easy dose
A track that got a lot of play on WHPK
Simeon Viltz, aka “See-me-on”
A Hyde Park cat
In a duo with Tree (The Scarecrow), ne Jaime Roundtree, from out west
If I’m not mistaken, they both went to U of I Champaign (and may have actually met there as opposed to back home in Chicago)
Named Prime Meridian because they were from opposite sides of the city
And met in the middle
(Hyde Park is east, though not really “over east” … why is it “out west” but “over east” in Chi? Who knows, I think it’s just always been that way)
Beautiful vibes and horn loop – to this day, not sure where it’s from
And intellectual-but-not-pretentious rhymes
A favorite from 1996 (have i mentioned that was a great year?)
They later did some stuff with All Nat
But then broke up
See-me-on appears to be still making a go if it
Tree became a teacher, principal, and district admin in Champaign Public Schools
Teachers, don’t leave them kids alone!
