This one is not a holy grail collectors item
Or a legendary album like Glass Bead Games
Previous objections notwithstanding, none of the doses have been “obscure”
But this one is
In fact, I don’t really have any info on it at all
Remember Ed Motta?
The Brazilian musician, collector, human beat box?
I met him once at a bar in Rio
Actually the same bar where I met my wife
We talked about records
Brasil and US
He was chiefing
In Rio, oddly enough, almost all weed is just complete stress
Dry, crumbly huff sold in small baggies
But Ed had that greenery
During our conversation (this would have been around 2006 maybe?), we talked about our mutual appreciation for Steely Dan
He REALLY loves Steely Dan:
Ed referenced AOR, a term I wasn’t familiar with
I couldn’t even figure out what he was saying
Cuz we were talking in Portuguese, and he was saying the letters AOR in English
I was befuddled
I later learned that AOR means “album-oriented rock”
Though some people use it to mean “adult-oriented rock”
Ed’s collection is massive

See above,
About 8 years after our medicinal-fueled discussion in Rio, he put out his own album of AOR, worth your time
I’m still not sure what defines the genre, precisely
But this record apparently fits the bill
It was put out in 1980 in Holland
I cannot find any info on him
I wasn’t too into the song when I first heard it
Found it kinda cheesy
But I started listening to it in the car
And now I’m completely obsessed
The lyrics are appropriate for decisions made late, and sure to be regretted
In love, music, poker, whatever
“Old night’s made a fool out of you / Don’t forget to greet the coming of the day”
